Befesa Q3 2026 | German Alloy Expansion Could Increase Competition for Aluminum Scrap
Befesa’s secondary aluminum business returned to positive EBITDA in Q3 even as alloy output fell 8.3%. Its Bernburg expansion adds 60,000 metric tons of annual alloy capacity in a tight European scrap market, raising the prospect of more competition for grades that electronics recyclers and ITAD providers sell.
Brief: Korea Zinc Q3 2026 | Onsan Copper Expansion Means More Demand for U.S. Circuit-Board Scrap
Korea Zinc is using its U.S. recycling acquisitions to secure secondary copper feed for its Onsan smelter in South Korea. It projected that PedalPoint would contribute 14,000 metric tons to Onsan’s 2026 copper output. The November 4 preliminary results gave U.S. electronics recyclers and ITAD providers no update on how much circuit-board scrap the expansion is drawing.
Boliden Q3 2026: Smelter Profit Doubles as Electronics and Alloys Feed Slips at Rönnskär
Boliden’s smelter operating profit more than doubled from the prior quarter, but electronics and alloys feed at its Rönnskär smelter fell 3.6% even as total secondary copper feed rose 16.6%. Rönnskär began restoring in-house copper refining in October. For electronics recyclers and ITAD providers, the question is whether the ramp-up will increase downstream demand for their material.

Seagate Fiscal Q1 2027: HAMR Ramp Expands High-Capacity Drive Supply as Customer Allocations Extend Through 2028
Seagate shipped a record 198 exabytes of nearline storage to data center customers as it ramped up drives of up to 44 TB with two major cloud providers. For ITAD operators, the rollout signals which high-capacity drives could eventually enter the resale market, where Seagate already competes with its own factory-recertified drives.
