Endpoint devices suffered a disastrous third quarter, with global smartphone and PC shipments each falling about 20% year over year. As consumers keep devices longer and remain unimpressed about the current crop of so-called AI PCs, enterprise AI infrastructure is pushing server CPU demand higher, creating two hardware markets with different recovery timelines. ITAD companies and recyclers will have to mature beyond volume-based processing, building the technical depth and enterprise-grade controls required to manage specialized server equipment.
