The circular economy is a compelling alternative to the traditional linear approach of managing product lifecycles. The linear approach involves extracting resources from nature, producing goods and services, disposing of the used products into landfills and returning to extract more resources. In contrast, a circular economy looks at all economic processes as being part of one ever renewing system. It focuses on efficient use of resources and reusing them in multiple cycles so that materials are not wasted but continually circulated in production systems for longer periods of time.
