Questioning Lenovo’s ‘Sustainability-as-a-Service’ Offering

In 2020, an HP paper sought to make its case in favor of printing as a service. The argument was interesting. The paper started by equating the “print-as-a-service” model to subscription services like cable TV or streaming platforms. Over the years, most PC, printers and other IT hardware manufacturers promoted the ‘as-a-service’ model for the obvious reasons. This time, Lenovo is pushing into new territories by promoting “sustainability-as-a-service,’ an offering that is not likely to find an easy path to clients. Although the idea is very interesting, convincing procurement, compliance and finance officers to buy the idea will be extremely difficult.
